Information for authors about copyright considerations
Submission of a manuscript is understood to imply that
- the paper is original;
- it has not already been published in whole or in substantial part elsewhere;
- it is not currently under consideration by any other journal;
- the publication of the paper in the Journal would not infringe the copyright or other rights of any other person(s);
- to the best of the author(s)'s knowledge, the paper does not contain any scandalous, libelous, obscene, unlawful, or otherwise objectionable material;
- the author(s) agree to the publication of the paper in the Journal if the paper is accepted for publication in the Journal;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to publish their article;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to publish the paper (in part or as a whole) on its own or as part of a collection in electronic and/or printed forms;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to keep backup copies on hard disks, CD-ROM and any other future media that become available;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to scan and reproduce material (in printed and electronic form);
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to be able to edit the paper for language and format;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to keep copies of the published material in different electronic/digital formats, e.g. Word, rtf, PDF, html, xml, PowerPoint, etc.;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to keep archives and store copies of the work in different electronic media e.g. hard disk, CD-ROMs, floppies, and any other form that may become available in the future;
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to create and maintain electronic databases e.g. CD-ROM archives, internet websites, on-line databases which include the paper (in part or as a whole);
- the author(s) agree to give CODATA a license to maintain mirror sites which include the paper (in part or as a whole).
- to reproduce his/her work;
- to publish it online on his/her institutional/departmental server;
- to use the paper (in part or as a whole) to produce new work e.g. other papers, articles, speeches, research, etc.;
- to use the paper for teaching purposes e.g. handouts, course packs, lectures, slides, etc.;
- to use the paper as part of his/her employment.
However the authors agree not to grant any other publisher the exclusive right to publish the paper again elsewhere or otherwise affect the rights of CODATA outlined above.
All the papers are published as open access articles distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the orignal work is properly cited.
