TGFC - Previous Recommended Values and Publications

The CODATA Task Group on Fundamental Physical Constants has been publishing recommended values for the Fundamental Physical Constants since 1969.

CODATA Recommended Values of the Fundamental Physical Constants: 2014

The Recommended Values of the Fundamental Physical Constants for 2014 were released in July 2015 and are available from ArXiv arXiv:1507.07956v1, from the CODATA Zenodo Collection and from the NIST website on 'Constants' Units and Uncertainty'

The full scholarly paper providing 'the 2014 self-consistent set of values of the constants and conversion factors of physics and chemistry recommended by the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA)' was published in September 2016 in Reviews of Modern Physics and is also openly available from the NIST website.  'These values are based on a least-squares adjustment that takes into account all data available up to 31 December 2014.'  The paper also provide 'details of the data selection and methodology of the adjustment'.

2010 Recommended Values

The 2010 Recommended Values for the Fundamental Physical Contants, called the 2010 LSA, was released early in 2011 on the NIST Reference on Constants, Units and Uncertainty and published in 2012 simultaneously in two academic journals, Reviews of Modern Physics and the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data.

Peter J. Mohr, Barry N. Taylor, and David B. Newell, 'CODATA recommended values of the fundamental physical constants: 2010' (2012).

Abstract: This paper gives the 2010 self-consistent set of values of the basic constants and conversion factors of physics and chemistry recommended by the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) for international use. The 2010 adjustment takes into account the data considered in the 2006 adjustment as well as the data that became available from 1 January 2007, after the closing date of that adjustment, until 31 December 2010, the closing date of the new adjustment. Further, it describes in detail the adjustment of the values of the constants, including the selection of the final set of input data based on the results of least-squares analyses. The 2010 set replaces the previously recommended 2006 CODATA set and may also be found on the World Wide Web at
