<title>2008 Sangster Award Recipient</title>
<description>(2008-05-20) CNC/CODATA announces the recipient of the 2006 Sangster Award: Mme Sabrina Fortin, Ph.D. candidate, Faculty of Law, University of Montreal (Canada). Ms Fortin will present her work at the 21st International CODATA Conference, Scientific Information for Society - from Today to the Future, 5-8 October 2008, Kyiv, Ukraine. The 2008 Sangster Award competition is now closed. The 2010 competition will be announced in late 2009.</description>

<description>(2007-10-05) The CNC/CODATA is accepting applications for The Sangster Award. This award will enable a graduate student enrolled in a Canadian university, or recent graduate (within 3 years of graduation), to attend and present his or her work at the 21st International CODATA Conference, Scientific Information for Society - from Today to the Future, 5 - 8 October, 2008, Kyiv, Ukraine. It is expected that the award winner's field of study will support the general objectives of CODATA, namely, to help foster and advance science and technology through developing and sharing knowledge about data and data-related activities. </description>

<title>CODATA Announces the 2008 CODATA Conference</title>
<description>(2006-12-12) CODATA International announces the 21st International CODATA Conference "Scientific Information for Society - from Today to the Future" to be held 5-8 October 2008 in Kyiv, Ukraine. "The information society in the world is at a nascent stage. It creates new conditions for youth in the present Digital Age and promotes the Elite Education for the next generation of young scientists and businessmen resulting in further economic growth by industrial competitiveness through research and technological innovation (RTD), in improving people health care and living standards. Shuichi Iwata (Japan) and Michael Zgurovskiy (Ukraine) are Co-Chairs of this conference, which will be held at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".

<title>NCASRD Final Report Available</title>
<description>(2005-01-31) The Final Report from the National Consultation on Access to Scientific Research Data, is now available from the NCASRD website, http://ncasrd.scitech.gc.ca.  The National Consultation on Access to Scientific Research Data (NCASRD) is a partnership initiative of the National Research Council Canada, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).

The goal of the NCASRD is to help Canada maximize the value received from its publicly funded natural and medical sciences research by recommending an appropriate framework and guidelines, which will facilitate open and long-term access to data coming from that research. </description>
