Imelda Lambkin

Dr. Imelda Lambkin Dr. Imelda Lambkin is a Senior Policy Advisor in the Science, Technology and Innovation Division, Forfas. Dr Lambkin qualified in Medical Laboratory Science at Dublin Institute of Technology and subsequently completed an MSc and PhD in Medical Microbiology at University College London. She returned to Elan Corporation in Ireland where she worked in industrial research for 7 years culminating in a position as Section Head in Molecular Biology contributing to and managing several international biotechnology joint ventures in drug targeting, ligand identification and combinatorial chemistry. With the demise of the Elan R&D facility in Dublin , Dr Lambkin moved into the world of policymaking in Forfas aiming to improve the environment for researchers in Ireland . Current interests include strategic approaches to R&D, strategic policy intelligence methodologies and their application to nano- and biotechnology. Dr Lambkin is the National Contact Point for the European Commission Framework Programme 6 (FP6) New and Emerging Science and Technology Initiative, a Member of the FP6 VISION ERA-NET (a shared knowledge base for sustainable innovation policies) and the OECD Task Force on Biotechnology for Sustainable Industrial Development.
