Carol Priestley - Biography

Carol Priestley is Director of the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP). Although now based in Oxford, U.K. she spent many years in the 1970s and 80s working in both Africa and Asia.

Carol's career has focussed on development and education. She has particular experience and expertise in the higher education sector and most especially in science and research. In 1992 her interest in book and library development led to an approach from the International Council for Science to establish a network to try to bring experiences in this field together. In the twelve years of its existence, INASP has become a very active and lively organisation, with a committed and highly professional team of staff. It has consolidated its position at the heart of the debate on book and library development, and is almost unique in striving to support and strengthen South-South initiatives, both in publication and information dissemination.
