International Workshop
Motion and Vital Data Acquisition, Storage and Trends for Aging Population
Tel Aviv, Israel
25-27 February 2013
WELCOME REMARKS
Good morning.
It is my pleasure to open the CODATA International Workshop on Motion and Vital Data Acquisition, Storage and Trends for Aging Population".
The long name was to emphasize that Aging population data has to be acquired at their homes or Assisted Living facilities. This procedure will make Assisted Living to be Ambient Assisted Living facility. The valuable data has to be stored and analyzed in order to enable independent elders’ age well at their place as long as possible.
This is not a procedure to replace human care givers with machines, rather improve care giving by introducing technology and automation.
These ideas are not new, they are not only discussed, but a lot of research and publications in the last two decades was even financially supported by several states and International Organizations, like EU under several Programs and calls.
Nevertheless, we cannot say that it is implemented and this activity develops on the Main Road.
We are here to brainstorm, what would make Ambient Assisted Living a communality al around the Globe.
You all received the goals of this Workshop and the way we intend to accomplish and prepare a written document to be published by CODATA. I shall save the time today for other lectures, but will be with your Working Group on these brainstorming activities along both days.
The initiative for this Workshop started at Our CODATA National Committee, please let me introduce Professor Niv Ahituv, Chairman of Israel National CODATA Committee.
……..
Please let me introduce, Ms Kathleen Cass CODATA General Manager who supported us a lot to make this Workshop a reality. It is my pleasure to welcome you Kathleen here in Israel.
