The Division about Sea and Ocean Geology and
the Department of Modern Marine Sedimentogenesis, Institute of Geological Sciences, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, have available mass
data about marine geology, geochemistry and geoecology
accumulated during 1962 - 2008 inclusive. Data are preserved on various
media. Moreover there are considerable quantity of
scientific documents as published books, papers and reports also a lot of unique
and rarity exhibits of cores, nodules and other informative objects from sea
floor. Mass data embraces the next branches of marine geology: investigation of
sediment forming in sea and ocean basins; studying of characteristics of bottom
sediment composition; examination of lithologic and
geochemical features of deposits, sea subaqual facies and landscapes; stratigraphical
partition of marine sedimentary strata; analysis of evolution of sediment
accumulation in connection with tectonic structure of basin and sea level
change; study of antropogenic impact and ecosystem stability; forecasting basins
about availability for mineral resources prospecting.
Information stored in data
bases concern the next geographic taxa: 1)oceans: the Atlantic, the Indian, the North Polar, the
Pacific, the South; 2)seas: the Black, the Azov, the
Baltic, the White, the Chuckchee, the Barents, the Mediterranean,
the Red; 3)deltas, estuaries, firths and debris cones of rivers of the Black
Sea and the Sea of Azov basins also of the west sea
shore of tropical Africa.
Networking of such mass data
to CODATA information system permit to open access for more wide
circle of users.
